  • I bought this frame because I had purchased an earlier model, the df1000, and was pretty happy with that, it’s the perfect gift for somebody who already has everything. Anyways, I purchased this model for my mother’s birthday, which recently passed and I was surprised to see that the frame had a lot more features than the previous model. My favorite so far is the Cinema mode, where the pictures that you have on the frame get automatically put into a slideshow with music, AND NOT IN A CHEESY WAY WITH WIPES AND STARS!! It’s done very subtly and elegantly. I’d recommend this frame for all moms out there!

  • It is a good picture frame with enough features for most home use. I like the 4:3 aspect ratio of this frame better than the wide screen because my portrait shots are better displayed with more height and the landscape shots also filled the screen. The screen has enough resolution (800×600) for my Nikon DSLR pictures and it is crisp and bright. I had to reduce the brighest to ensure that the pictures are too washed out. The glass and wood frame is nice and look high end unlike my plasticky Kodak M1020. The Kodak has more intuitive menu and the touch screen is better than the remote that comes with the HP. I don’t use the internal memory and I don’t care for it. I just loaded the pictures on an SD card and periodically add/delete from it. I had not tried print from the picture frame but I think it is a cool features for the moment you don’t want use a computer to print a few pictures. I must admit the menu on this picture frame is confusing and counter intuitive, no where close to the Kodak in terms of user friendliness. I also notice that the auto on/off feature does not work properly as it does turn on/off but not at the right time that I set. I think the clock mechanism has issue but HP has no firmware update for this. People knitpicks about the random feature which is superfluous. There is no true random in any electronic device so get over it. Overall, good value for the money but I do wish that HP spend a little more time on the menu design (it’s more like an engineering menu of a machine rather than consumer product) and get their FW fix on their website.

  • Great product. Everything works as it claimed. But just to the basic. Not thrilled and not disappointed neither.

2GB internal memory is great, I dumped over 8000 pictures on it. Seems it doesn’t read pictures in directories, so I put all pictures in the root directory. And it takes the frame 3 to 4 minutes to start to play pictures every time power on. Not really a big deal.

Just one complain that it runs at 9W power consumption, no matter how I adjust the brightness or other settings.

  • I immediately returned it because the buttons didn’t work and the connections were loose. Do not buy it!

  • Usually I’m not the one to purchase unnecessary gifts, but after seeing the features on this frame (bought it for mom), I will definitely purchase one for myself. What I like most about the frame is a feature called “Cinema Mode”. If you guys are familiar with the work of Ken Burns, then you can compare the cinema mode to his work. Aside from that, the huge 2GB internal memory is well worth the price alone.
